Each has their ideal and reason to continue fighting and, in the 3rd chapter, you must be ready with the faction you want to side with. However, this isn’t an easy choice as siding with one locks you out of the battles of the others for the rest of the game. As such, while it may not affect your character’s growth and how you rank up, it is an important choice that decides which ending you get.

So if you are unable to decide on whether you should choose Sun Jian, Cao Cao, or Liu Bei in Dynasty Warriors Origins, here are some things that you can consider to help make your choice.

Which Faction Should You Choose In Dynasty Warriors Origins?

Best Faction To Choose In Dynasty Warriors Origins

Players should side with Liu Bei if they want to side with a heroic and selfless character. All 3 endings are very subjective and cannot exactly be concluded as one being objectively better than the other. The best part is once you side with a faction and complete the game, you can replay the Story from Chapter 3 and side with the other 2 factions separately to get their endings.

Without getting into too many spoilers, there are going to be some important characters that die in some battles in your first playthrough. So, to get the true endings, you have to save those characters while you are replaying the missions.

If you are having difficulty completing the objectives needed for the true endings, you could try farming Pyroxene to upgrade your gems. Alternatively, you could also change your difficulty to Historian.

What To Consider When Choosing A Faction In Dynasty Warriors Origins?

What To Consider When Choosing A Faction

If you still aren’t sure about which hero to choose, here are some other things that you can consider:

Number Of Battles

Total Battles Fought By Each Faction

For a Guardian of Peace, the game sure has you fighting a lot of battles. As such, the number of missions you need to do to complete the game might help you pick a side. So, if you are trying to quickly see the game’s ending, then you should choose either Sun Jian or Liu Bei.

In Chapter 3, after contributing to each side, Sun Jian and Liu Bei’s forces each have you fight 3 battles. Meanwhile, siding with Cao Cao requires you to fight 5 more battles before being able to reach Chapter 4.

In Chapter 4, Cao Cao and Sun Jian each have you fight 6 battles. But with Liu Bei, you need to complete 7 battles before you can make it to Chapter 5. Finally, for the fifth and the last chapter, you have to take part in 6 battles, no matter which side you choose.

True Endings

Each Faction And Their True Ending Conditions

The following section contains spoilers for the game’s main story.

You should side with Liu Bei if you are looking for a shorter playthrough, as the true Shu ending requires you to replay only one battle. Meanwhile, both the true endings for Wei and Wu require you to save 2 characters, while having other winning conditions.

Here is a quick overview of how you can get the true endings for each faction:

True Ending

Unlock Requirement

Shu

Defeat Cao Cao in Chapter 5: Battle of Changban.

Wei

Save Dian Wei in Chapter 4: Escape From Wan Castle.

Save Guo Jia in Chapter 5: Battle of Mt. Bailang.

Don’t let Huang Gai burn Cao Cao’s fleet in Chapter 5: Battle of Chibi.

Wu

Save Sun Jian in Chapter 3: Battle of Xiangyang.

Save Sun Ce in Chapter 4: Suppression of Wu.

Complete the story till the end.

Reasons To Fight

Ideals And Reasons For Each Hero To Fight

All 3 heroes are fighting for their cause, so you should probably go with the character that you resonate more with or the one you find the most interesting.

The following section also contains some spoilers for the game’s main story.

  • Sun Jian is the most loyal to the Han Dynasty, as shown by his reasons for not letting the Imperial Seal fall into the wrong hands. You see the struggles of Sun Ce and the rest of the Sun clan, who have to come to terms with the death of Sun Jian while moving forward. Compared to the other factions, this story is more focused on the Sun family, and you also don’t have to fight Cao Cao or Liu Bei much.
  • Cao Cao is a character whose goal is more focused on conquering and unifying the land, no matter the means he needs to use to achieve this goal. This can be seen when he recruits the rogues from the Yellow Turbans into his army. Siding with Cao Cao will have you fight Liu Bei’s forces on several occasions.
  • Liu Bei is the more righteous character among the 3 heroes. Throughout the journey, he has been shown to fight for the people who need him, no matter whether he gets a reward in return. If you do choose to side with him, then you will be fighting Cao Cao’s side a lot.

It is important to remember that you can always choose the other two factions after finishing the game. So, it is best you pick one and complete their story so that you can quickly replay to experience the battles of the other sides.
