Earned only by those daring enough to conquer immersive virtual worlds, defeat formidable bosses, and hunt down every elusive collectible, PlayStation Platinum Trophies are the gold platinum stars of video gaming that showcase your dedication and skill.

In this list, you’ll find the cream of the crop—the games that have turned countless players into trophy-hunting warriors. Whether you’re swinging through the streets of New York as the Web-Slinger or battling colossal mechanical dinosaurs, these titles have captured the hearts of gamers everywhere. So grab your controller, call in your gaming buddies, and let’s see which games made the cut for Platinum glory. Warning: serious FOMO may occur!

Unfortunately, the powers-that-be at Sony don’t share the mountains of player data they have surging through their databases every day. That means for this list, I’ve used PSN Profiles, a badass tool for anyone that wants to track their Trophies! However, the website can only track people who sign-up, so it cannot provide be 100% accurate. Keep that in mind as you read on.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man

Swinging onto the top spot on the list is Marvel’s Spider-Man, the fantastic super-hero title from Insomniac Games. 402,000 players (at the time of writing) have spent the time to achieve the game’s Platinum Trophy, which accounts for 8.4% of the people who played the game.

And it’s pretty easy to see why people wanted to snag the top Trophy. Not only is the game incredibly fun to play, but the Platinum is fairly easy to obtain. Most of the Trophies come from just playing through the game normally. The trickiest part is completing the Taskmaster challenges as they don’t leave a lot of room for error. After that, getting the Platinum boils down to mopping up collectibles around the map, and luckily that’s not a chore because swinging around New York is so bloody fun.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 doesn’t make the top ten, but I can attest that the Platinum is equally fun to snag. I managed to finish the game with my final trophy being to visit a certain location (I’m avoiding spoilers just in case) and it felt like the perfect way to wrap it all up.

2. Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn has captivated players not just because of its stunning visuals and rich narrative, but also due to the allure of earning its Platinum Trophy. An impressive 299,313 people have managed to acquire the Platinum Trophy. While it’s generally classed as quite an easy Platinum, it does take a reasonable amount of time at 40-50 hours.

A significant driver of its popularity is the game’s design, which encourages exploration and skillful gameplay. Players are rewarded for their curiosity as they traverse a beautifully crafted post-apocalyptic world inhabited by mechanical creatures. The tasks involved in obtaining the Platinum trophy include completing the main storyline, finishing various side quests, and discovering collectible items scattered throughout the vast environments. It’s a good list that pushes people to explore and have fun.

Of course, Horizon Zero Dawn also recently got remastered for PS5. It has its own separate list of Trophies, but since you can bring your save over from the original game, that means you can pop all those lovely Trophies again for a super-easy Platinum. Or just play the game again.

3. God of War

The 2018 soft reboot of the God of War franchise has proven to be incredibly successful for Santa Monica Studios and Sony. Gone is the world’s angriest man and in his place is the world’s angriest dad. Given a kid to build a relationship with and a whole new pantheon of Gods to punch in the face, Kratos was allowed to grow as a character, and while that does mean losing the bad-ass simplicity of who he once was, the new Kratos is just as captivating.

And it really shows. God of War has sold millions and millions of copies, while PSNProfiles shows that 291,524 people sought out the Platinum Trophy. That’s 4.8% of tracked players, which is enough to classify the Platinum as “Ultra Rare.”

It’s not an overly challenging Platinum to get, but does take a reasonable amount of time, clocking in at anywhere from 40-60 hours. It’s pretty much what you’d expect, too: beat the story, do the side-quests and then you’ll probably want to wrap the whole thing up by tackling the Valkyrie Queen, the toughest fight in the game.

4. Rocket League

Just 2.6% of Rocket League’s players have managed to win themselves the Platinum, although that still amounts to an impressive 256,981 people. Those numbers are a testament to just how wildly successful Rocket League has been since it launched in 2015.

Sure, moving to a free-to-play model in 2020 has undoubtedly helped boost the game’s playerbase, but there’s also the fact that it’s just bloody good fun to play. Rocket League’s manic mix of vehicular football, gravity-defying moves and fast-paced gameplay creates a very high skill ceiling, but even bumbling idiots like myself can have a great time crashing into everything and occasionally scoring a goal.

As for the Trophy hunt, it helps that almost everything can be done by playing against the AI. All of them are quite easy to get. The only issue is that acquiring all the items takes some grinding, which trading and paying money can shorten. If you want to keep your wallet firmly tucked away and can’t be bothered with people, it’ll take some time to pick up that shiny, shiny Platinum.

5. Astro Bot’s Playroom

Loaded onto every PlayStation 5 and with an easy set of trophies to collect, it’s not wonder that Astro Bot’s Playroom ranks so high on the list. But let’s not do it a disservice: while a glorified tech demo in many regards, Astro Bot’s Playroom is heaps of fun and relentlessly charming. That’s why 260,022 have scooped up the Platinum trophy which is aptly named You’ve Only Done Everything.

Earning the Platinum here will only take you a few hours and isn’t going to test your skills, but on the way you’re going to be subjected to an overload of cuteness and a passion for PlayStation. I’ve thrown around the term charming before, but Astro himself might be the best embodiment of the term.

The full-fledged sequel also sports an excellent Trophy list and easy Platinum, for those interested.

6. Infamous Second Son

Ah, Infamous. There’s a franchise we haven’t heard from in a while. In fact, it has been over a decade since we got Infamous First Light, the expansion to Second Son.

A solid 246,337 people have picked up the Platinum for Second Son, giving it a rarity of 5.5%. That’s a pretty good ratio, and likely explained by it being another fairly easy Platinum to get with an estimated difficulty of just 2/10.

The fun part is that you have to play through the game twice: once picking all of the good options, and the other time being a complete arsehole. The campaign is short enough that having to go back through doesn’t feel tiring, letting you just enjoy getting to see how everything plays out when let go and become the villain. And yes, I’d probably recommend keeping the evil run for second, but that’s because I personally suck at being the bad guy in games.

7. Bloodborne

Bloodborne is easily the hardest Platinum Trophy to earn on this list, making it all the more impressive that 6.8% of PSNProfiles users managed to snag it. That’s 222,220 people. Even the website’s own guide ranks Bloodborne as a 7 out of 10 on the difficulty scale, and if that wasn’t enough it takes an estimated 30-50 hours to do. In other words, earning the Platinum takes some serious work and skills.

With that said, PSNProfiles is for the more hardcore gamers who go out of their way to hunt Trophies, and FromSoft’s games are for the hardcore of the hardcore. That isn’t to say their games cannot be enjoyed by everyone, but it’s fair to say that a Platinum in any of their games is a hell of achievement and is undoubtedly going to be one of a collector’s most prized accomplishments.

In other words, if we could get the Trophy data for all of the gamers worldwide and not just those who sign up, Bloodborne would probably rank a lot further down.

To earn the Platinum you’re going to have to kill a lot of bosses, and die more times than you can probably count. The most time consuming trophy will be Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen which is unlocked for beating the main hidden boss. Oh, and to get to her you have to battle twenty other bosses. No sweat, right?

8. Batman: The Telltale Series

Ranked as just a 1 out of 10 in terms of difficulty on PSNProfile’s own guide and requiring 6-10 hours to achieve, Batman: The Telltale Series is probably the easiest Platinum on this list. Even Astro’s Playroom ranks as a 2 out of 10, after all.

The reason it’s so easy is because the game’s trophies are all unmissable and tied to the story, so provided you make it to the end (which involves a lot of QTEs) you’ll pick up a Platinum titled I’m Batman as your reward. 186,048 people have donned the cowl and done exactly that, meaning 14.8% of the people who played Batman: The Telltale Series can claim to be Batman.

But let’s not do a disservice to the game, as Batman: The Telltale Series, which was released in 2016, is very well liked. It holds a decent critical score on Opencritic of 71, and over on Steam it has a “mostly positive” rating from players. It might not go down in history the same way the Batman: Arkham games did, but the Telltale Series certainly found an audience in the Trophy hunting community.

9. Ghost of Tsushima

The hardest part of doing the honourable thing by earning Ghost of Tsushima’s Platinum Trophy isn’t the gameplay. No, it’s pulling yourself away from staring at the amazing vistas, writing haikus and soaking in hot springs. Save Tsushima, you say? Roving hordes of Mongols, you say? It’ll have to wait, I have a poem to compose.

185,787 did manage to wander the land achieve the highest honor possible, equating to 8.5% of players. That’s a pretty impressive ratio. I mean, I got stuck making a giant photo gallery because it’s too damn pretty.

Who can blame them though? Ghost of Tsushima is an excellent game with an entertaining Trophy list that tasks you with doing almost everything there is to do. The 50 or so hours that’ll take is entirely worth it.

10. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Spidey makes it onto the list twice, albeit with a different character under the mask. Although it’s more like a glorified expansion pack than a proper sequel, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is still a fantastic game, and the Christmas setting somehow makes New York feel like an entirely different place despite being the same map.

180,136 have managed to spin a Platinum-trapping web. And since it follows pretty much the same structure as the first game, the Trophy list is a solid mix of unmissable story objectives and completing side-content. Unlike the original game though, you do need to go through New Game+ in order to get the platinum.

So there we have it, the top ten most popular Platinum Trophies! Well, for the moment. The list is slowly changing with multiple games making their way up the ladder. For now though, this is what we have.

Does anything in the list surprise? Are there any games you thought for sure would be up there?
