The Lion’s Den Quest Walkthrough

The Lion’s Den is a main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 where players’ objective is to become a member of the Prague in Sigismund’s camp and steal a cannon. This powerful cannon, known as The Finger of God, is essential in our quest to destroy Maleshov and take out Lord Von Bergow once and for all.

Getting the cannon is not going to be so easy, though, as various tasks come up that Henry must complete to get closer to his goal. This includes getting enlisted, investigating rooms, and solving a murder.

Creating a Plan With Zizka and Allies

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Lion's DEn

After the ambush in the Jewish Quarter during the Exodus quest, we need to find Zizka in the Devil’s Den to discuss the next steps. Once you reach Devil’s Den, speak to Zizka to gather all your allies to come up with a plan.

The plan here is simple: we need to get a cannon that is stashed away in Sigismund’s camp and use that cannon to destroy Maleshov. It turns out that the cannon is to be moved from Sigismund’s camp, giving Zizka the perfect opportunity to execute an ambush.

The only problem here is that they aren’t sure when the cannon is getting moved, so Henry is tasked with joining the Prague of Sigismund’s forces to find out.

Joining the Prague Regiment

Travel to Sigismund’s camp to find Katherine at the bathhouses and explain the plan to join the Prague. Despite her conflictions, she’ll mention the best way to get into the Prague is by speaking to Stephen Crow, a soldier who’s part of the regiment.

Before making your way to Stephen Crow, make sure you wait until the afternoon (12 on the clock), otherwise, he’ll be in an off-limits section. Once it’s 12, head to the shooting range to speak with him and tell him how you want to enlist.

To get Crow to accept your offer to enlist, you have to convince him through dialogue checks. Choose the dialogue options you have the highest stat in, and after enough success, he will finally agree to let you enlist. But first, he wants you to speak to the Commander.

The Commander agrees, but only if Henry finds him a special document that’s in the possession of a group of his soldiers. Unfortunately, the soldiers never returned to Sigismund’s Camp, so you need to find them.

Finding the Document for Commander Kratz

In order to get a clue about where the soldiers are, we have to speak to Myshek at the infirmary. Unfortunately, Myshek is unconscious, so he isn’t that much of a help.

But, if you speak to Musa (the head of the infirmary), he will mention that Myshek was muttering “Old Lhota” before passing out. This is our hint to head to Old Lhota in order to find the soldiers.

Fast travel, or ride your horse, to Old Lhota on the southern side of the Kuttenberg map. Here you will find a sawmill, with seven soldiers inside the premises.

Feel free to stealth this part, killing each soldier with a dagger, but I found stealth was much more challenging than facing all of them head-on.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 won’t require multiple playthroughs for a Platinum trophy, but it will still take some time.

Whichever way you decide to go about this encounter, just know that you need to grab the “key to the painted chest” from the soldier with a white shirt. Otherwise, you’ll have to lockpick a chest with a level hard difficulty.

Once you grab the keys, go to the upstairs section of the building next to the sawmill and use the keys on the painted chest. The “Lost Charter for King Sigismund” is found inside the painted chest.

Once you have the Lost Charter for King Sigismund, return to Commander Katz and hand it over. A cutscene will begin showing Henry, Musa, and Katz having drinks, when the celebration is interrupted by a soldier with terrible news. Someone has attempted to assassinate Commander Chertan of the Cumans.

Investigating the Crime Scene

Henry, Katz, and Musa rush to the crime scene to see Chertan on the ground with multiple stab wounds in his stomach. Chertan is rushed to the infirmary, while Henry stays behind to investigate the crime scene.

Examine the blood on the ground and then the trough directly north of the pile of blood. After thoroughly examining these locations, return to Kratz to inform him of your findings.

After telling Kratz what you discovered, he gets fed up and decides to check on Chertan at the infirmary. Unfortunately, Chertan succumbed to his injuries and is now deceased.

Surprisingly, though, it turns out it wasn’t the stab wounds that killed him, but someone actually poisoned the wine that Musa gave him.

Grozav of Borumlaca blames Musa, saying he intentionally poisoned the wine, but Kratz and Henry stick up for him and say that could not possibly be true. To save Musa from getting sentenced to death, it’s now up to Henry to find the actual murderer.

Finding the Murderer

Musa Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The first step in finding the murderer is speaking to Musa, since he was the last one to speak to Chertan alive. Due to him being under guard, you need to find a way to sneak to him undetected.

There are two ways to sneak past the guard that is blocking Musa’s room. You can either get Katherine to help you distract him or throw a pebble to make him look the other way while you sneak over to Musa.

The former is only available if you’ve completed Katherine’s side task called “The Stalker,” or else she won’t help.

Speaking to Musa, he’ll mention that the only way to discover the murderer is by reading his “book of poisons” and examining the body. This way, we can compare symptoms of the body to the list of poisons in the book.

Getting the Book of Poisons

Book of poisons Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The Book of Poisons can be found in a locked chest in the infirmary, right next to the body of Chertan. Luckily, the chest is rated at “easy” difficulty for lockpicking, making it super simple to unlock.

Once you unlock the chest, grab the Book of Poisons and begin reading it. Fully read through the book, until you reach the last page, completing the objective.

Examining the Body

Directly next to the chest where you found the Book of Poisons, you’ll find the corpse of Chertan. Approach the body and interact with it to start examining it.

Make sure to examine each part of the body, such as legs, arms, head, etc, until Henry is satisfied with his findings. If you paid close attention to the examination, you’ll now know that Chertan had spasms before he died. This information is crucial in deciphering the poison used on Chertan.

Now that we understand the symptoms that killed Chertan, most notably spasms, we can begin to look through the Book of Poisons to learn which poison causes that specific symptom.

Turn to the page that’s labeled “Kiss of Death,” and about halfway down the page, you’ll learn that this specific poison causes spasms. This makes it clear that the Kiss of Death was the poison that killed Chertan.

Once you’ve come to this conclusion, return to Musa and let him know that you believe the Kiss of Death was the poison that killed Chertan.

Musa now wants you to investigate the suspect’s tents around Sigismund’s camp to find if anyone has the ingredients for this particular poison.

Investigating Suspect’s Tents

Investigating Crow's Tent Kingdom Come Deliveance 2

There are four tents you need to investigate to discover who committed the murder: Stephen Crow, Grozav, Musa, and the tent of Adalbert and Radovan.

This quest consists of examining a list of items found in these tents. Check out the bullet points below to learn what items to examine for each tent.

  • Stephen Crow’s tent: Wood, Nails, Rose Water
  • Grozav’s tent: Herbs
  • Musa’s Tent: Potions, Vessel
  • Adalbert and Radovan’s Tent: Broom, Bed

After investigating these four tents, Henry concludes that Stephen Crow is the one who made the Kiss of Death poison, considering wood, nails, and rose water are its exact ingredients.

Completing Musa’s Trial

Council for Musa Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Last, but not least, it’s time to save Musa from a death sentence by providing evidence. If the waypoint isn’t available for the trial, make sure to wait a few in-game hours until it appears.

During the trial, there are specific dialogue options you must pick to be successful. Picking three wrong dialogue choices can result in a game over.

Here are the dialogue options to choose that led to my success:

  1. “Musa is innocent!”
  2. “He was with us at the time of the stabbing.”
  3. “Corporal Stephen Crow”
  4. “Crow poisoned the wine when Musa wasn’t looking”
  5. “You brewed a poison called Kiss of Death.”

Choosing these dialogue options will result in the council blaming Stephen Crow for the death of Chertan. Crow will grow angry in a fit of rage and try to fight everyone, but he can easily be killed with a few strikes of your sword.

With the actual murderer dead, Kratz agrees that it’s time to head out of Sigismund’s Camp. In other words, it’s time to move the cannon (The Finger of God).

Return to Katherine and inform her that they’re about to move the cannon, so she can go to Zizka and tell him it’s time to prepare for the ambush. Next, return to Kratz and tell him you’re ready to head to Sedletz.

As you make your way to Sedletz, Zizka and your allies will ambush the convoy. Once all the enemy soldiers are defeated, speak to Zizka to complete The Lion’s Den quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
