Nintendo Aims For Switch 2 To Be Priced Competitively
In a Q&A session as part of Nintendo’s Q3 financial report (via VGC), Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa commented on the Nintendo Switch 2’s price plans, and whether anything changed to the company’s plans on what’s an acceptable price.
The Nintendo boss mentions that the company considers not only Japan’s increased inflation rate but also the drastically changed exchange rate environment since the Nintendo Switch was released in 2017.
That doesn’t mean Nintendo aims to sell the Switch 2 at a high price point; as Furukawa states, they have to consider “the affordability that our customers expect from Nintendo products.”
The Nintendo boss says they considered all of the various factors when pricing the Switch 2, though they have nothing to announce at this time. There are also no plans to change the price of the original Switch at this time, which is understandable.

We expected nothing from these Nintendo games and got greatness.
Outside the form factor, there’s a lot still unknown about the Nintendo Switch 2. That should change in April when Nintendo launches the Switch 2 Experience worldwide and the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct show, which is set to air on April 2, 2025, at 6 am PT/9 am ET/2 pm GMT.
Expect to hear about the game’s release date, price point and games that should be available at launch. While Nintendo will look to churn out as much of these consoles as they can, I’m already ready not to be able to get one given the demand for these things will be insanely high.
Fortunately, Nintendo is expecting scalpers to try and take advantage of the console’s scarcity, and the company has made plans to stop it.
