STALKER 2’s first major update 1.1, released on December 19, contained over 1,800 fixes and changes, making it one of the largest patches for the game to date. The fixes included major improvements to A-Life NPC behavior, AI revamps, enhanced mission progression, and balance tweaks.

STALKER 2 1.1.2 Patch Notes
Some of the prominent issues that emerged post update 1.1 included players crashing whenever they tried to load their previous saves. Loading was definitely not the cause, since they didn’t have an issue starting a new game. On the compiling shades screen, the process often stalled and led to a crash rather than progressing to the main menu.
To fix these bugs, STALKER 2 has rolled out patch 1.1.2, which comes packaged as a 7.6 GB download on Steam. Gone are the issues with loading saves and the shader compilation stall-and-crash. Some players also reported experiencing unexpected crashes when they tried to exit the game—this, too, is now fixed.
The first-person shooter survival horror game also gets a brand-new feature that automatically backs up your save files on the PC for up to four days. This functionality fixes the sense of unpredictability and significant disruptions in the gameplay, particularly after updates or crashes.
STALKER 2’s Path to Success
The latest update marks another series of back-to-back improvements that demonstrate the game’s ongoing recovery and refinement after its rocky launch. It is the third fix in two days, meant to ensure you enjoy the survival horror experience, particularly during the holiday season.
