Ready Or Not Dark Waters DLC

Ready Or Not Dark Waters DLC

There may have been a slight delay, but the much vaunted second DLC for Ready or Not is finally out for $9.99. The Dark Waters DLC fuels a lot of nostalgia for tactical shooters of yore.

Boarding ships and oil rigs in the middle of the night with your tacticool buddies is one of the most exciting things you can do in a game, and Dark Waters has plenty of it.

Whether you got your fix through the opening level of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, or the Channel Ferry mission in Rainbow Six: Lockdown, this is a trip down memory lane with much more suitable mechanics.

Atomic Heart DLC 3 “Enchantment Under the Sea” Releases January 28

Atomic Heart’s third DLC “Enchantment Under the Sea” dives out on January 28, and brings a new locale, weapons and more.

In typical Ready or Not fashion, there is some hamfisted handling of serious topics, but the gameplay experience makes that easy to look past.

New Maps, New Missions

The crown jewel of the Dark Waters DLC is the Leviathan mission. A terrorist group by the name of “United People’s Front” has stormed the HeavyWell A-101 offshore oil rig, killing part of the crew and taking the rest hostage.

For the first time, LSPD SWAT gets to infil via helicopter, hitching a Black Hawk ride to the rig.

After deployment, the UH-60 stays around to provide overwatch, though the budget was apparently too tight to put a sniper team aboard.

It’s thrilling stuff and the effects are identical to their movie counterparts, and you have the option to dual wield as well, which feels great.

The Mirage at Sea level plays out on the Seraglio, a luxury yacht hosting a party, a suspiciously large security detail, and even bigger international crime shenanigans aboard.

Back on shore, 3 Letter Triad takes the LSPD operators to the Elysian. This massive abandoned resort island is an urban exploration dream, but the criminal underworld finds a way to cramp the vibes.

To complement the maritime theme of the missions, the Dark Waters DLC brings about some fashionable toys of seafaring inclination.

The most noticeable is a VBSS uniform set that will make you look the part when going aboard.

VBSS stands for Visit, Board, Search and Seizure, a job typically bestowed upon the more Billy Badass types elements of the US Navy.

To get the job done, the LSPD SWAT also got new guns that bring some much needed firepower for dealing with tough clients:

  • Mk 17 (FN SCAR-H)
  • GA51 (HK51)
  • G3
  • M14S-16 (Springfield M1A SOCOM 16)
  • MP5SD6

If you are unfamiliar with it, the GA51 is known in the British SAS as the “Flashbang Gun”, and is essentially an MP5 chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO.

With the exception of the MP5SD6 integrally supressed submachine gun, all of the new eapons use the 7.62x51mm round.

This is what you bring to the party when you want the suspects dead, not wounded, so mind your shots.

Are you ready? Then get your floaties on and board the chopper, it’s time to raid an oil rig.
