The good news for Haemimont Games is that the studio’s staff and leadership will remain intact, and all ongoing projects will remain unaffected (via VGC).

Haemimont founder Gabriel Dobrev said, “We’re delighted to join the Paradox family. The cultural fit between our companies is remarkable, and we already feel at home. This partnership empowers us to push the boundaries of our games, delivering deeper and more intense experiences to our players. It also opens new horizons for our team, technology, and creative processes, which we’re eager to explore. Expect amazing new games from us.”

Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester also issued a statement that read, “We are very happy to welcome Haemimont Games to Paradox. They bring a tight-knit team with long experience in developing management games with many well received projects in their portfolio. Moreover, they have a strong creative streak, technology developed for their niche, a new IP in development and a strong culture that fits Paradox’s way of working. We have strong faith in their team and leadership, and our main focus now is to ensure that they can continue to create great games under new ownership.”

Cities Skylines 2 Review – Utopia Or Dystopia?

Performance issues? Yes. But there’s some high-quality city building fun to be had here.

While Haemimont Games has been developing games since 2000, its most high-profile release has been Jagged Alliance 3. Released in 2023 and published by THQ Nordic, Jagged Alliance 3 continues the tactical RPG franchise and was a critical hit. It earned a “Strong” rating on Open Critic, with 94% of critics recommending the game.

Paradox Interactive’s most recent release is Cities Skylines 2. While the game reviewed well, it’s been marred by performance issues and other bugs. The situation has gotten so bad that the publisher has delayed the console version of the game indefinitely. Outside of the performance issues, the game is worth a look; as our review states, “Despite the technical imperfections (which Paradox has acknowledged), Cities Skylines 2 is still a masterfully crafted jewel in the crown of the city-building genre. There isn’t anything else that can match it for breadth or depth right now.”
