Yamaguchi City-based developer Jacob Honda has announced CLASS 3, THIRD GRADE, a “nostalgic” first-person escape adventure game coming to PC via Steam in March for $4.99 / 680 yen. A specific release date was not announced. It will support English and Japanese language options.
“CLASS 3, THIRD GRADE is a work for the ‘ice age generation,’” said development team leader Makoto Nishizaki in a press release. “We created it for those who feel a lead weight in their stomach when they hear ‘end-of-day meeting.’ We hope you’ll experience the reality of the 80s children’s world, both heartwarming and cruel, while reminiscing about the suddenly vanished chicken in the school’s animal shed after summer vacation.”
Here is an overview of the game, via Jacob Honda:
About
In the midst of a boring, unchanging “ordinary” life, the protagonist “I” inexplicably begins to frequently dream of childhood. The elementary school days, with no particular memories, are so distant that not even class reunion notices reach them.
One day, on an ordinary morning during the commute, “I” mysteriously stumbles into the childhood bedroom. It’s a world where the boundary between dream and reality is blurred. Memories of childhood, which had become vague and idyllic over the years, begin to vividly regain their original form.
Amidst a mix of nostalgia and anxiety, “I” is forced to confront the past. Can “I” return to the real world from this labyrinth of memories? And how will this encounter with the past change “I”‘s life?
Gameplay
CLASS 3, THIRD GRADE is a 3D first-person perspective escape game. Players take on the role of the protagonist, “I,” exploring a nostalgic childhood room, collecting items necessary for escape, and solving various puzzles in order to return to the real world.
