Marvel Rivals gets over 10 million players in three days – WGB

10 million people donned spandex and went to battle over Marvel Rival’s opening weekend, proving once and for all that what we really want is to dress up in a costume and fight each other.

Chinese giant NetEase made the announcement on social media.

“In just 72 hours, we’ve reached an incredible milestone of 10 million players worldwide!” said the official Marvel Rival’s X page. It might only be text, but I’m sure I heard champagne being popped in the background and the sound of someone diving into a pool of money.

It’s doing pretty damn well on Steam as well. A few days ago I wrote about its opening numbers, but Rival’s has beaten its own peak concurrent player count by 40,000+ people, bringing its new record to 480,990 concurrent players.

Astoundingly, it has a Mostly Positive rating on Steam as well. I say astoundingly because these days a multiplayer game launching without a raft of problems is akin to a miracle. And it’s even odder to see people actually happy with a free-to-play game’s monetization, and yet here we are.
