NetEase’s superhero multiplayer game, Marvel Rivals, is a smashing success, as the company has announced its player count has reached eight digits, which is no small feat.

The announcement was made on Twitter/X, where NetEase announced that Marvel Rivals had reached 10 million players in just 72 hours! Imagine that: that means the game had over 10 million accounts created and logged into it. There’s no breakdown given by NetEase, though at launch, its Steam player count ballooned to close to 500,000 concurrent players.

Marvel Rivals Storms Out Of The Gate With Millions Playing Already

Marvel Rivals is doing quite well — at least on Steam. It’s currently in fourth place as the most played for the day, with Counter-Strike 2 taking the top spot, and followed by PUBG: Battlegrounds, and Dota 2.

While Marvel Rivals has hit a major milestone, it still has a long way to go if it wants to crack the most-played game of all-time list on Steam. That crown currently nests on PUBG: Battlegrounds’ head with close to 3.2 million concurrent gamers playing the game at one point. It’s then followed by Black Myth: Wukong, which managed to hit a peak of 2.4 million players simultaneously (via Steam Charts). It is even more impressive considering it’s a single-player game with no multiplayer functionality.

Of course, we don’t know the console numbers, and for all we know, this could be double or triple what Steam has. Unfortunately, Microsoft and Sony don’t usually release specific player stats.
