Lego Horizon Adventures, the Lego-themed spinoff of the Horizon franchise, was released on November 14th this year. By any calendar, that wasn’t too long ago.
But this holiday season, Lego Horizon Adventures gets a pretty sharp price discount – going from the standard $60 down to $40. This applies to both the Nintendo Switch and PS5 versions of the games, with most major retailers carrying the sale, like Amazon and Walmart.
As a standalone game, you won’t need to have played Horizon: Zero Dawn or Horizon: Forbidden West in order to get the full experience here. It’s a Lego game. They try to make them super accessible.
There’s also a tie-in Lego playset, because it’s Lego and of course there is. It’s also much smaller than the massive Tallneck Lego released a while back, targeting a younger and more playful demographic.

For reasons that should be fairly obvious, the PS5 version of the game makes use of far stronger hardware than what the Nintendo Switch offers, and it makes a noticeable difference in the final product. But the Switch offers benefits of its own, namely its portability – pick the one that best suits you.
If you’ve got a kid in need of a game for the Christmas season, it’s worth noting that an online delivery may not arrive on time. Be sure to double-check before making a purchase.
Lego Horizon Adventures has had mixed reviews among general audiences, but is a game that’s found a niche with select audiences – kids being foremost among them.
Lego Horizon Adventures Holiday Sale May Have Two Causes
It’s not typically a good sign when a game gets deep discounts, especially one so soon after launch. Well, it’s not good for business – players always love a good discount, and it’s hard to find exceptions there.
Given its lukewarm reception, it’s certainly easy to believe that Lego Horizon Adventures just isn’t selling that well, and desperately needed a boost. But given the season and the game’s target demographic, it may just be an issue of timing.
Lego Horizon Adventures has, somehow, found itself with a pair of elephants in the room. First among them are the not-great-not-terrible reviews, but beyond that is the overwhelming splendor of holiday cheer.

Lego Horizon Adventures Review
Lego Horizon Adventures is a disappointment that doesn’t do justice to either franchise.
Either one could independently cause a price dip, right around now. But neither do they contradict – the discounted price could have two causes. Perhaps more, if you wanted to look beyond the elephants in the room – but why would you?
It’s not too common to have factors converge like this. And regardless of how much each one contributed, the end result is one that clearly favors the customer.
Lego Horizon Adventures is more accessible than it’s ever been, over its long one-month life. We’ll get a better idea of things in the post-holiday season. But until then, a sale’s a sale.
