Elijah Wood, Longlegs director to host horror Super Bowl halftime show

The trailers for Longlegs director Oz Perkins’ new film The Monkey have been full of blood, guts, and horrible ways to die. In keeping with that spirit, Perkins and his Monkey star Elijah Wood are now set to host an alternative Super Bowl halftime show in which the pair will analyze replays of famous horror-movie kills on YouTube.

The event will take place on the Dead Meat YouTube channel just as halftime starts in the real Super Bowl. Perkins and Wood are set to review a whole host of gory kills from all kinds of different movies, along with James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca, the hosts of Dead Meat.

The news release about the event doesn’t mention which kills the group will be looking at, but promises they’ll be talking over them in the style of NFL legend John Madden’s replay breakdowns, which promises to be a slightly different experience than this year’s proper Super Bowl halftime show headlined by Kendrick Lamar. Then again, if Kendrick performs his diss track “Not Like Us” just a week after the song tied Drake’s total Grammy wins, maybe Perkins and Wood will have another horror highlight to break down before the real halftime show ends.

The Monkey is set for release in theaters on Feb. 21. Perkins and Wood’s horror halftime show will go live on Feb. 9, sometime around 8 p.m. ET.
