Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 Lets Players Express Themselves

CD Projekt RED announced Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 today, which will include a host of new features available today. The update was developed with Virtous Games, a studio known for collaborating with other dev teams and working on post-launch game updates.

While the much-requested PS5 Pro Support and New Game Plus aren’t in the works, there’s still a lot to look forward to for Cyberpunk 2077 fans.

The mod has been in development since 2021 and is aiming to bring the equivalent of GTA Online to Cyberpunk 2077.

During the latest edition of REDStreams, members of the development team revealed what they’ve been working on: updates to the character creator, new car customization, new cars to find in the Auto Fixer, and even the ability for Johnny Silverhand to sit next to you while driving around Night City occasionally.

A new camera mode is being added to the game’s photo mode, allowing players to take incredible in-game shots. CD Projekt RED wanted players to be able to take the best in-game pictures without having to use external programs like Photoshop. An improved camera and lighting options help make this possible.

While new aspect ratios are available in photo mode, they’re only available on PC due to technical limitations.

Cyberpunk Update 2.2 Is About Expressing Yourself

With Update 2.2, the team wanted to ensure a consistent, cohesive thought behind the update itself. CD Projekt RED wants players to understand the idea and intent behind the new features being introduced, and the team made sure they focused on that. One key goal was to allow players to express themselves better in Night City. Players can properly express themselves with V’s looks, clothes, cars, and more. It’s a theme that ties into the Cyberpunk genre as a whole.

One key way to do this is to bring the Crystalcoat feature to all cars, allowing players to design their cars to their heart’s desire. The Twintone option is also a new way for players to customize their cars, which lets them scan any car within Night City and add unique colors and patterns that catch their eye to their own car.

Yes, this affects gameplay: changing your car’s color will get the police off your tail.

For those looking to pick up cars you couldn’t previously own, ten cars are being added to the Auto Fixer: eight are in the base game, and two are in the Phantom Liberty update, including some highly requested vehicles.

It’s not just about customizing your cars; Cyberpunk 2077‘s character creator has been given a substantial update to help players better roleplay within Night City. The team confirmed that they doubled the options and assets players can access in the game’s character customization toolkit.
