Capcom has announced Capcom Games Competition, its first-ever game competition for students in Japan utilizing its proprietary RE ENGINE.
The competition will see students create games utilizing development tools such as RE ENGINE in a cloud environment. Students will form teams of up to 20 people, in which they will assign roles according to game creator job types, receive support from professional Capcom developers, and work toward creating one game in a half-year period. Capcom also plans to offer game production support with an opportunity for commercialization to award winners. Each respective team will retain ownership and copyright of their games.
Capcom said its goal in holding this competition is to strengthen the videogame industry and serve as a responsible corporate citizen, and that it will continue to conduct corporate social responsibility activities going forward.
Applications for the competition will be available from December 9, 2024 to January 17, 2025. Students who are at least 18 years old and enrolled in a university, graduate school, or vocational school in Japan are eligible to apply. The application form is available here.
