Assassin’s Creed has always been a franchise known for stealthy kills and stylish eliminations. But Assassin’s Creed, Shadows aims to provide something franchise players haven’t seen before: seeing the infamous “Naruto run” move done in-game.
If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it’s an action where the character/person leans forward, arms bent back, sprinting at full speed. It’s become a meme of sorts throughout the years, with possibly one of the most famous interpretations of it in real life being the one that took place back in 2019 when the “Storm Area 51” movement gained ground. Long story short, it was set up as an event by a community college student, who had the following description: “If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens.” It’s as absurd as it sounds, and you’ll want to see it for yourself to see the craziness.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Lets You Do The Naruto Run
AC Shadows Creative Director Jonathan Dumont confirmed this in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. According to Dumont, “We do have a run on top of buildings that has a little bit of a wink-wink to it.”
While some might argue that this is just how ninjas run, it’s hard to disassociate the anime with the movement. The moment an anime or gamer with a vague idea of the Naruto series sees it, they will connect the two.
Of course, that’s just one tiny bit in the grand scheme of things the developers are doing to make the experience feel fresh. Players can also expect Assassin’s Creed Shadows to feature the fastest assassin we’ve seen in franchise history.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Features The Fastest Assassin Ubisoft Created For The Franchise
Speaking about Naoe, a female shinobi and one of the game’s protagonists, Dumont says, “Naoe’s the fastest Assassin we ever made. She runs super fast, she has a lot of gadgets to keep her stealth so that she doesn’t have to fight often. We wanted to satisfy that for players that come in for that ninja-Assassin game.”
Regarding stealth, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has some sweeping changes compared to previous games, which you can read about here.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the next mainline entry in the franchise, and after being delayed from release this year to the next, it’s now set to launch on February 14, 2025, on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Suppose you haven’t been keeping tabs on the action game.
