Bleach: 10 Strongest Vice Captains
From Sentarō Kotsubaki to Shūhei Hisagi, these are the strongest vice captains in all of Bleach.
As Ichigo Kurosaki grows stronger, he struggles to control the hollow powers surging within him. Seeking guidance, he turns to the Visoreds. With their help, he learns to harness his abilities and push his limits even further.
Among all of the Visoreds, some stand out as formidable warriors, wielding a mix of Soul Reaper and Hollow abilities. Here are all ranked from weakest to strongest.
9 Hachigen Ushoda
The Gentle Giant Behind The Barriers
The role of a former Kido Corps Lieutenant isn’t just for show. Before becoming a Visored, Hachigen served directly under Tessai Tsukabishi, mastering the art of barriers and defensive spells that would later prove crucial in some of the most intense battles.
During the fight against Baraggan Louisenbairn, the Second Espada, his tactical mind shone through. By cleverly using his barriers to trap Baraggan’s aging powers within Espada’s own body, he turned the tide of what seemed like an impossible battle.
Unlike his fellow Visoreds who excel in combat, Hacchi prefers a more strategic approach. His pacifist nature and limited physical capabilities are offset by his mastery of Kido, which allows him to create barriers strong enough to contain even Captain-level spiritual pressure.
8 Mashiro Kuna
Woman Who Needs No Shikai
Mashiro Kuna is an anomaly. While most Visoreds struggle to maintain their Hollow masks for longer than a few minutes, she effortlessly keeps hers on for over 15 hours without showing signs of exhaustion. That alone makes her one of the strongest Visoreds in raw Hollow power.
She was the former Lieutenant of the 9th Division under Kensei Muguruma, but unlike most high-ranking Soul Reapers, she doesn’t even use a Zanpakuto in battle. Instead, she relies on her insane physical strength and agility, using powerful kicks to obliterate opponents. Even a Menos Grande-class Hollow wouldn’t stand a chance against her overwhelming brute force.
Her personality might make her seem unreliable, given her childlike and energetic behavior, but in battle, she’s nothing short of a monster. The only reason she ranks lower than others is her lack of versatility. She lacks Kido proficiency and ranged attacks, making her easier to counter in certain situations.
7 Hiyori Sarugaki
Small But Fierce
Hiyori’s short temper and aggressive personality make her seem reckless, but her skills as a fighter are undeniable. As the former Lieutenant of the 12th Division under Kirio Hikifune and later under Kisuke Urahara.
Her Zanpakuto, Kubikiri Orochi, takes the form of a massive cleaver-like blade in its Shikai state. While she lacks the Kido expertise of some of her fellow Visoreds, her proficiency in combat makes her a fearsome opponent, especially when combined with her Hollow mask.
However, Hiyori struggles with stamina, and her hotheaded nature often leads her into battles where she’s at a disadvantage. Unlike Mashiro, she can’t keep her mask on indefinitely, meaning prolonged fights can become a problem for her.

The only reason she ranks lower than others is her lack of versatility. She lacks proficiency in Kido and ranged attacks, making her easier to counter in certain situations.
6 Lisa Yadomaru
The Bookworm With A Deadly Edge
Lisa Yadomaru is as intelligent as she is deadly. She served as the Lieutenant of the 8th Division under Shunsui Kyoraku, and her calm demeanor contrasts sharply with some of her more hotheaded Visored comrades.
Her Zanpakuto, Haguro Tonbo, is a massive polearm in its Shikai, allowing her to strike with extended range while maintaining precision. She specializes in quick, precise attacks rather than brute force.

Bleach: 15 Most Powerful Characters, Ranked
The Bleach anime series has several interesting characters that are fun to watch, but here are the strongest of them.
Her Hollow mask enhances her speed and strength, but like most of her peers, she has a time limit on how long she can keep it active. Still, her fighting style is balanced enough that she doesn’t rely on it as heavily as some others.
Lisa is also a skilled Kido user, though she doesn’t rely on it as much as Hachigen. She prefers a mix of swordplay and Hollow abilities.
5 Rojuro Otoribashi
Dancing To The Beat Of Battle
Before becoming a Visored, Rojuro Otoribashi, or “Rose,” was the Captain of the 3rd Division. Unlike some of the more physically aggressive members of the group, Rose’s combat style is more refined and artistic, much like his personality.
His Zanpakuto, Kinshara, takes the form of a golden whip-like sword that he uses to strike opponents from a distance. When released in its Shikai, it creates sound-based attacks that can manipulate the battlefield and can deal devastating concussive damage.
His Bankai, Kinshara Butodan, creates a unique theater of death where his opponents become unwitting actors in his deadly performance. As a Visored, his Hollow mask enhances his already impressive Reiatsu, allowing him to use his abilities with greater precision and power.
4 Love Aikawa
Manga Lover
Love Aikawa, the former Captain of the 7th Division, is a powerhouse. Unlike Rose, who prefers finesse, Love is all about brute strength. His fighting style revolves around overwhelming his opponents with raw force.
His Zanpakuto, Tengumaru, transforms into a massive spiked club in its Shikai state, allowing him to deliver devastating attacks capable of leveling entire areas. His Hollow mask further amplifies his already monstrous strength.
Despite his imposing strength, Love is a laid-back and kind-hearted individual. However, when he fights, he doesn’t hold back.
3 Kensei Muguruma
Fists Of Justice, Heart Of Steel
The steely determination that made him Captain of the 9th Division never wavered, even after becoming a Visored. His combat style focuses on close-quarters fighting, perfectly complemented by his Zanpakuto, Tachikaze, which allows Kensie to manipulate wind and energy.
His Bankai, Tekken Tachikaze, wraps his arms in metal and explosive power, allowing him to deliver bone-crushing blows enhanced by concentrated air pressure. During the Fake Karakura Town battle, he proved why he deserved his reputation by easily dispatching multiple Gillian-class Menos Grande.
Unlike many other Visoreds, Kensei eventually returned to his position as Captain of the 9th Division after the Quincy War, a testament to both his loyalty and combat prowess.
2 Shinji Hirako
The Master Of Misdirection
As the leader of the Visoreds, the former and future Captain of the 5th Division commands respect through both his combat prowess and strategic mind. His Zanpakuto, Sakanade, creates an “inverted world” that completely disorients his opponents, making him one of the most tactically dangerous fighters.
Despite his seemingly carefree attitude, his experience in battle and leadership show in crucial moments. His ability to wear his Hollow mask for substantial periods, combined with his unique fighting style, makes him a nightmare for any opponent.
The betrayal by his former Lieutenant, Sosuke Aizen, only strengthened his resolve and tactical thinking.
1 Ichigo Kurosaki
Hybrid Prodigy Who Defies All Limits
Unlike the other Visoreds who gained their powers through artificial means, Ichigo got his Hollow powers naturally as part of his unique heritage. This distinct origin allowed him to achieve levels of power that surpassed the traditional limitations of both Soul Reaper and Hollow abilities.
His journey to control his inner Hollow proved more challenging than most, requiring intense training with the Visoreds. However, once mastered, his Hollow mask dramatically enhanced his already considerable powers, allowing him to stand against threats that would overwhelm most Captain-level Soul Reaper.
What sets him apart isn’t just raw power, but his ability to grow stronger through every battle. His unique combination of Soul Reaper, Hollow, and Quincy powers, along with his human heritage, makes him something entirely new in the Soul Society’s history.
During the battle against Aizen, he demonstrated this by achieving a level of power that transcended the usual boundaries between Hollow and Soul Reaper.
