The dessert machine is one of the many cooking stations in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, allowing you to whip up tasty treats for your friends. The game separately labels these as “desserts” (not to be confused with the “baked goods” category, despite those also being desserts).
Notably, this machine makes one of the best end-game gifts, the Starry Skies Shake, though that will require quite a bit of playtime to get to. It can also make Pompompurin’s favorite gift, Mama’s Pudding. To use the dessert machine, you’ll need to use cactus creams, which can be found on the cacti south of the dessert boat. You can upgrade the machine by befriending Pompompurin.

Where to find the dessert machine
There are no specific unlock requirements for the dessert machine, and you can access it so long as you have access to Gemstone Mountain. You can find it in Pompompurin’s dessert boat here:

Your map may look slightly different if you haven’t completed the “Revive the Oasis” quest; the boat will just be stuck at the bottom of the pit — but you will still be able to enter it either way.
After you hit friendship level 15 with Pompompurin, you’ll unlock the crafting plan to make your own useable dessert machine that you can place in visitor cabins.
How to upgrade the dessert machine
To upgrade the dessert machine, you’ll need to reach friendship level 13 with Pompompurin. This will allow you to add a second ingredient to the mix, so you can make shakes and other delicious treats.
To raise friendship quickly with Pompompurin, you can make him Dessert Pizza early on (using candy clouds, sugarkelp, or swampmallows in the pizza oven). You can also make him Candied Banana Coffee (using bananas and candy clouds), if you have the espresso machine upgraded. If these are still not super accessible options for you, you can give him calming crystals, found in the Crystal Caves.
You can also expedite this process by using items like Friendship Bouquets and Friendship Blossoms to gift Pompompurin more without having to wait until the next day (or time travel).

Note that there are a limited-time recipes — the “50th Anniversary Shake” and the “Birthday Cake Shake” — but they’re not counted as part of the collections page and you can’t make them consistently, as they use a limited-time material, so we don’t have them on our list.
There are also multiple recipes for the same drink, but they are registered individually in your collections. For example, using candy clouds or sugarkelp will both give you Sweet Pudding, but it will register as “Sweet Pudding Recipe (Candy Clouds)” and “Sweet Pudding Recipe (Sugarkelp)” in your collections, so you may want to make all of these to collect all the recipes fully.
