It is only fitting that a proto-futuristic setting incorporates it as a major weapon, as the odds are people will still be fighting wars with this thing in 100 years.
Besides that, the developers have also included a banging soundtrack from a fictional boy band called On-Lyne.
The songs Part of Your Lifetime and The Great Despair are so authentically Y2K trash (in the best way possible) that it prompted a search to make sure this was not a real band in disguise.
If you are in it primarily for the lore, it is highly recommended to put some minutes aside to read the Warframe: 1999 webcomic that is available on the game’s site.
The work by Cam Rogers and TBG Karu has a cool, endearing art style and a story that helps set the tone of the interactions between members of The Hex.
You can play without reading it, but the experience is just not the same, so go show the artists some love.
