Dynasty Warriors Origins has you fighting several battles in your journey as you learn more about who “Ziluan” is. During this progression, you unlock new regions and while exploring the Overworld, you will often find Old Coins.

These relics don’t work like your regular currency which you would take to a shop for buying items or weapons. You also cannot equip them like gems to get passive abilities. Rather, you can think of them as more of a collectible. However, that doesn’t mean these coins are useless.

There is an NPC who rewards you with different resources and accessories the more Old Coins you collect. So here are the different ways to find Old Coins in Dynasty Warriors Origins, and the list of rewards you get from using them.

How To Get Old Coins In Dynasty Warriors Origins

There are many ways to get Old Coins, but the easiest one is to look for them in the overworld. As you walk around the map, once you are near an Old Coin, you can find the ground glowing around it. Walk up to the glow and take it to get the Old Coin.

Use the Eyes of the Sacred Bird whenever you enter a new region. This makes it easier to spot any glowing spots for the Old Coins or Pyroxene nodes in the area.

The important thing to remember here is that this is a finite resource. There are only 500 Old Coins that you can get throughout your different playthroughs. So if you are planning to get them all, here are the other things you must do:

Complete Side Quests And Talk To Other Characters

Progressing the game’s main story is important for unlocking new areas and meeting NPCs. However, if you are just rushing to get to the end, you may miss out on a lot of side trivia and character bonds.

As such, after completing new battles, make sure you explore the region as there is a good chance you may find new characters to talk to. You can even fast-travel back to older areas that might have been impacted by your story progression to see if there is someone new for you to meet. Often these characters have requests that, upon completion, may give you Old Coins.

Open Letters

You can check your letters by going to an Inn. These are similar to requests in a way, so you won’t know for sure what reward a letter has to offer, but opening them is still worth it as some of them may have Old Coins for you.

Ideally, you should make it a habit to regularly check your letters. This is because sometimes a character won’t show up in an area until you have read their letter.

Raise Peace Levels And Check Waypoints

The best way to raise the peace level is to complete the story missions of that region. While that increases the peace the most, just doing that isn’t enough. The next thing you should do is complete Battle Missions, Requests, and Skirmishes. These tasks are also good ways to earn some extra skill points.

These are easy battles that typically involve fighting bandits that have taken over government camps or are wreaking havoc across the land, eradicating pirates, and more.

Each region or province has 3 levels of peace. Once you have raised enough peace, you can find gifts and flowers on waypoints. These rewards can include things like Old Coins, Horses, Pyroxene, Accessories, and more.

Complete Optional Ultimate Warrior Challenges

This method is recommended for those players who are looking to get the War God’s Sash or are trying to 100% the game. After completing the main story, you will unlock a new Ultimate Warrior difficulty. This is the hardest mode that you can play Dynasty Warriors Origins on.

In this mode, you can take on optional challenges in battles. There are 18 challenges that give you 10 Old Coins each. These tasks are usually time-sensitive and will require you to defeat the enemy, capture the base, or more within the given time.

How To Use Old Coins In Dynasty Warriors Origins

Old Coins can be used at the Shui Jing Retreat in You Province. Enter the retreat and choose Old Coins. Based on how far you have progressed in the story, Shui Jing or Pang Tong will check the number of Old Coins that you have collected and will give you your rewards.

You don’t have to cash in on your Old Coins as soon as you reach a milestone. However, after reaching the 100 coins mark you start unlocking more Accessories than resources so it is a good idea to timely check in on Shui Jing Retreat.
