Today, social media accounts for Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows officially revealed that the game is getting its own tie-in Manga series.
The manga will not be a stylized retelling of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ story, however.
The name and background of this new protagonist remains to be seen, as the announcement simply states the following:
Discover the official prequel of the game. Follow the story a young Assassin apprentice, as she fights against the growing presence of the Templars order in Japan.
Bright red emblazons the background of the manga’s cover image, with a stylized version of the classic Assassin’s Creed logo splashing dramatically to go along with the mysterious protagonist’s dynamic pose as she dual-wields the series-identifier hidden blade and a Katana sword simultaneously.
Previews for Assassin’s Creed Shadows have already shown how Naoe, one of Shadows’ dual protagonists, receives her hidden blade, adding to speculation about the manga’s protagonist and what their story could be, not to mention the way in which it will connect to the story told in Shadows later this Spring.
Of course, given the series’ framing device of memories and the Animus, there’s always the chance for the Science Fiction aspects to play a part in all this.
We will simply have to wait and see what else Assassin’s Creed Shadows will reveal to us in the lead up to launch and after.
The First Issue Of The Manga Will Launch Alongside The Game In Japan Only
The rest of the world will be able to check out the manga at an unspecified later date.
What that date is remains to be seen. For now, after numerous controversies as well as delays, at the time of writing, players can likely get their hands on Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20, 2025.
Take a look at the official announcement below.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the first game in the series directly aimed at the ninth and current generation of video game consoles, launching on Playstation 5 and the Xbox Series consoles and PCs.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Won’t Feature Point Of Interest Every 50 Meters
Ubisoft had to “craft the crap” out of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ open-world due to how Japan was shaped.
